“The Most Complete Cornerback” Goes to Buffalo

The NFL Draft Report called Stephon Gilmore “The Most Complete Cornerback.” The Buffalo Bills got him as the number 10 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot, 193-pound Gilmore was a three-year starter at USC.  In 40 games, Gilmore finished with eight interceptions, including four last season, seven sacks and 15 tackles for a loss.

Gilmore ran a 4.4 second 40-yard dash at this year’s NFL combine, which was the third fastest time among defensive backs in this draft class. He also ranked among the top five defensive back performers in both the 20-yard shuttle (3.94, second) and the 60-yard shuttle (11.15, fourth).

Gilmore’s expected to immediately compete for a starting job on what’s becoming an aging defensive backfield in Buffalo. Drayton Florence, a nine-year NFL veteran, is in the final year of his contract. Terrence McGee, also a nine-year veteran, has been injury prone.

Congrats to Mr. Gilmore as he will represent South Carolina well and he will always be a Gamecock. He continues the “DBU” tradition for USC.
