Gamecocks Stock Report: 4/23/12 Edition

Time to start back our weekly “Gamecocks Stock Report” and provide you a quick snapshot of the South Carolina sports program. Here is the look for this past week:

Rising

USC baseball fever – The Gamecocks or Yardcocks to some have finally stepped up their level of play. They have won four straight SEC series and are beginning to peak at the right now. There is still work to do but it is going in the right direction.

USC men’s hoops recruitingFour recruits in 48 hours. Safe to say that the Frank Martin era has begun. Such a good feeling around the men’s basketball program….about time.

Falling

USC football – Welcome to the “dead time” as the spring session has concluded and now we must wait until the start of the fall season. Don’t worry fans as we will continue to keep your appetitie fed for blog posts related to the Gamecocks.

Flatlining

Damontre Harris and N.C. State –  USC forward Damontre Harris is transferring out, which this blog feels is a bad choice but he did not read our letter. The scenario around this guy “stinks.” Seems that our friends at N.C. State may have played a role in this decision which is simply bad. Harris asked for his release from USC last Monday.  He has been given the opportunity to explore his options by Gamecock head coach Frank Martin though he will not be released to NC State. Good choice by Coach Martin. Harris and N.C. State, well what can you say.
