As those who follow college football know, South Carolina's running back Marcus Lattimore sustained a very serious knee injury in the win against Tennessee. In searching for a reaction about this, we determined to not show the video or try to act like a news-type but provide a open letter to him. Below is our open letter to Marcus Lattimore:
You don't know me but I am praying for you. I can not for one second imagine the emotions, pain and anxiety you are going through after the injury. I do hope you realize that myself and a lot of people have you in mind and are pulling for you.
I have always been amazed by the person you are - level-headed, kind-spirited, a great football player and a leader in your own way. I know you will come through this with a new focus on life. I am sure you have heard this before but things happen for a reason. When they occur, we have no clue as to why but I assure you this will make you stronger. I know you are a man of faith and I encourage you to seek that avenue. It is okay to ask "why" and have anger. Know that this too shall pass and place value on the opportunities you have now and into the future.
Marcus, there is nothing I could say or do to provide comfort and you are likely to never read this. However, I do know that you are the person that can make this situation out to be good. I look forward to watching how this situation unfolds into a positive. Regardless of when that next snap shall be, I thank you for teaching me and so many what it truly means to be a Gamecock. Keep fighting. Keep that head up and that smile bright. I hope you get to feeling well soon and take it day-by-day.

This is really nice and resonates with our family due to an injury my son (14) received playing football on Sept 28th. He has surgery tomorrow and your message above consolodates all we've been trying to convey to him too. Our faith keeps us postive as well. For whatever reason, just like with Marcus, he too was choosen to go this route. So, even though Marcus may never read this letter, I did, and will share with my son! Thank you!
We saw the injury to Marcus and our hearts just break for him! Marcus was one of the examples we talked about; and of players coming back from knee injuries and being just as strong as they were before. When he got hurt, again, it just really hit us.
Our prayers are with him and I'm sure he'll continue to be an example for others, like my son.
My son (Joshua) will be watching him, keeping track of his progress,
and tryign to keep pace with him on his certain recovery!
As the LOHD the crew knows, I never miss a chance to gig the Cocks. However, the injury to Marcus Lattimore goes beyond college football rivalries.
There have been tons of well-wishes and expressions of condolence posted on LHB today. I'm going to post the address so that any Dawgs that wish to can send a note to Marcus.
We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him in NFL (and not at South Carolina) next year.
