Tramell Williams Says Goodbye to Gamecock Football

Tramell Williams, redshirt offensive lineman, is leaving the South Carolina football program and taking his game to Alabama State.  Today, via his twitter account, he said “I’ve enjoyed my time here its been fun gamecock fans. But its time too move on….. Alabama bound.”

Seems playing time is the main reason.  The depth chart is crowded and he was slated to be a possible back-up center to TJ Johnson.  First team status was going to be a long time off.  He is too short to play tackle at six foot and even if he went over to guard there was Watkins and Cann in front of him.  He has loads of talent as he was the #9 center out of high school as rated by Rivals.com.

Hard to fault a guy that simpy wants to play football.  Hope he can find happiness in the next chapter of his football life.

Overall, it is a blow to USC’s depth as any loss at the OL spot hurts the team.  Good news is the Gamecocks have some solid OL players coming in.  Surely, knowing this, also had a play in his choice as the Gamecocks signed six new offensive line players.  Best to ya Tramell.
