Gamecocks Top 20 for ’12: No. 16

NOTE: This South Carolina Gamecocks blog is counting down the Top 20 projected players on South Carolina’s 2012 team. Players are measured on overall importance and expected productivity during the upcoming season.

The basics:
The tight end spot is deep and loaded with talent but one kid may seperate himself amongst the group and that will be Jerrell Adams. He is impressing in preseason camp. Recently, in one of the scrimmages, he led all receivers with four catches for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Rewind: Adams spent the fall of 2011 in prep school at Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy after originally signing with the Gamecocks in February 2011. He is a freshman this season.

Forecast:
LOHD feels that Adams is the real deal and could be All-SEC material if he continues to do what he has done in practices. With the quarterback Connor Shaw searching for some go-to guys in the passing game, Adams has the potential to be his main target.

Others in Top 20

No. 20 – Shaq Roland
– No. 19 – A.J. Cann
– No. 18 – Brison Williams
– No. 17 – Akeem Auguste
