The USC Gamecocks are SEC East Champs!

The South Carolina Gamecocks made history tonight with beating the Florida Gators in the “Swamp” to claim the right to represent the SEC Eastern Division in Atlanta versus the Auburn Tigers.  Final score in the SC win was 36-14.

“This is a special run since it’s our first.,” Spurrier said. “That was one of our goals, to win the Eastern Division and it worked out.”

Hats off to Steve Spurrier and what about Marcus Lattimore who had 207 yards rushing on 41 carries and three touchdowns.  Wow.

Garcia managed the game efficiently, completing 15 of his 22 passes for 156 yards while running 12 times for 28 yards and a touchdown.  Receiver Alshon Jeffery had six catches for 53 yards, and the Gamecock offensive line paved the way for Lattimore’s big night.

Also stepping up big time and a big key was the defense, especially the play of the line.  Heck, it was a team effort and kudos to the entire team.

The Gamecocks now turn their attention to Troy next week before finishing the regular season against Clemson on Nov. 27.  Oh and let’s also put on your agenda a trip to Atlanta to see Cam Newtown again for the SEC Crown.

This Gamecocks Blog is in awe.  We have been waiting for this since birth.  We never lost hope in the “Garnet and Black” even during the 0-11 and 1-10 seasons.  We knew with Spurrier it was going to happen.  It is all about building a program, which he has done.  He deserves credit along with the entire staff for doing something no one else could do within the program – win the SEC East.

This blog stated since August the UF game would decid the winner and we stated that the winner was going to be USC.  So happy we were right for once but we knew that the desire was there and the talent was in place.

Say whatever you will about the league being down but one thing is for sure – The USC football team in 2010 are CHAMPIONS of the SEC East.  Say that to yourself again.

This will take awhile to sink in but “high 5’s” to all our Gamecock friends and cheers to our many loyal readers.  Go GAMECOCKS!
