Gamecocks Suffer Heartbreak in Lexington

blacksigThe loss that the Gamecocks suffered at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats hurt.  USC was riding high after the Alabama win and a great first half in Lexington but it all came falling down with a poor performance in the second part of the game.  UK wins 31-28.

Not sure what the defense was doing and why some missed assignments as the game drew closer to the end.  Cobb open at the end like that?  Seriously?  Then to blow timeouts like that at the end?  A throw instead of going for the tie?  Spurrier you are better than that.

Congrats to UK as they never eased up, Carolina could learn something from that.  Cobb and Matthews were too much, which is surprising as everyone in America knew who their play-makers were going to be coming into the game.  After making Ingram and Jones look silly last week against ‘Bama, the Gamecocks resort to this.

The thing that bothers me is how the Gamecocks got ahead of themselves and let up.  But should I be surprised as I have been a Carolina fan all my life but this year was suppose to be different.  What frustrates is how Carolina thought they had it wrapped up at halftime but college football is 60 minutes.  This has to go down as the worst half of play for USC in a long, long time.  Another thing I can not understand is how USC looked post-Lattimore injury…..the offense was like a lost puppy.  I hope that I am wrong and the offense is made up more than two players.  And where is Kenny Miles?

We will write more later as we need to watch this UF game and also watch the USC replay before we complain too much about this loss that should not have happened.

One thing is for sure.  Must get ready for Vandy and must beat Vandy as their is plenty of football to play.  Just like last week when we noted that the ‘Bama win was great, must move on as there is another game to play.  This must be done this week also as we lost…move on…Vandy is no cupcake either.  If we come in there with hanging heads it could be ugly.  Defense HAS to improve!

What are your thoughts about the UK game as I would love to hear from you……?
